How to Seal Brick Pavers?

Why you 100% absolutely MUST seal brick pavers

Many homeowners with a brick paver driveway or brick paver pool deck installation don’t realize the need to have them cleaned and sealed. In this post, you will find all the reasons to seal brick pavers, How to Seal Brick Pavers, and how to maintain them for years of life.

AESTHETICS:

Here in Florida, your brick paver surfaces are exposed to the harsh UV rays of our Florida sun. Especially here in the Tampa Bay and Central Florida area, like Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, Sumter, Lake, Marion Counties, and all surrounding areas we serve. The harsh Florida sun will fade your brick paver surfaces beyond rescue.

Multiple finish options are available. First, we have a Natural Finish – which will not enhance the color or add any shine or sheen to your paver surfaces. We have the Wet Look finish, which will significantly improve the natural color of the pavers and provide a subtle sheen, not a very high gloss paver seal. And finally, the wet look/extreme gloss will enhance the brick pavers’ color just like the wet Look, but also add a HIGHER gloss/sheen to the pavers.

98% of our customers prefer the Wet Look – which enhances the color of the pavers and adds a nice rich sheen; 1% of our customers go with the natural finish, and 1% want the higher gloss “extreme shine” finish. But most importantly, our sealer will protect the actual pavers from further damage.

STABILIZATION:

Sealing pavers will lock the joint sand in place, and the sealer will lock the joint sand, so it doesn’t wash out of the joints when rainwater falls on your pavers or the pool water splashes into the brick pavers’ joints.

Once the brick paver joint sand is sealed and hardens to a consistency comparable to concrete, the pavers cannot shift, sink or become loose, wobbly, uneven, and unsafe. This protects your Home’s brick paver surfaces from having to have a very costly repair of re-leveling brick pavers. A very tedious and labor-intensive process – and believe me, companies charge accordingly for the task.

Once the joint paver sand is hardened, weeds are now faced with a nearly impenetrable solid barrier they cannot easily break through. Additionally, since water cannot soak into the base aggregate material that the pavers float on,  there is no longer an environment for mold to begin to fester and grow – keeping your brick paver surfaces weed & mold-free for longer!

PROTECTION:

Now that your pavers are sealed, they have a protective coating that has penetrated deeply into the capillaries and pores of the brick pavers, helping to protect them from staining, motor oils, vehicle fluids, irrigation rust from your sprinklers that are fed through well water, gum adhesion and protection from any contaminants that may find their way to your paver surfaces around your driveways or pool decks like spilled soda, wine, sunblock, suntan oils, and lotions.

We are owner-operated; you will deal directly with the owner throughout the project, who will also be on-site working with you every step, from start to finish and beyond.

Maintenance:

Pavers are not maintenance-free, although they are low maintenance. Keep your pavers looking good with a regular light cleaning, and you can use your hose and an attachment to rinse off your pavers. This will remove most of the sand from the wind, rain, and everyday use.

You don’t need to put high pressure on them IF we have sealed your pavers.

Blow or rinse off pavers regularly, especially when rain is likely: Dirt, dust, and debris can dull the rich finish of sealed pavers. Use a broom, blower, or hose to get rid of them. Wet leaves cause staining on pavers that eventually washes away with more rain or can be hosed off but look unsightly until then—removing leaves before the rain preserves the handsome appearance of pavers and saves you extra effort.

Manage weeds all season: Dirt that remains will promote vegetation growth. A product that prevents seeds from germinating can be used in the spring and periodically throughout the year. Vegetation that grows should be pulled, and you can also use an environmentally safe solution to get rid of the foliage. We don’t recommend herbicides because they can wash into our water and your lawn and kill it, and they’re not environmentally friendly, plus they may dull your finish. Remove any seedlings you see immediately.

Clean stains immediately: Oil, grease, and irrigation stains are much easier to remove from sealed than unsealed pavers, but get to them quickly:
